or as many have/will unfairly tag it; 'the film that inexplicably beat pan's labyrinth for best foreign film at the oscars'.

i actually think it's the superior film. totally engrossing and powerful from start to fin. amazingly moving final scene. great performances. etc etc. all the reviews are right. go see it.

edit: turns out it's already at #95 with in IMDb's top 250 with a rating of 8.5, whereas pan's is at #49 with the same rating and more votes. so it seems the aformentioned tag will disappear soon.

I very much want to see this. Will hopefully catch it at some stage over the long weekend, if not then hopefully in the weekend or two afterwards. Sounds excellent.

i finally caught this today (in a country cinema where the rounds are late)
must say it has trumped zodiac for the best of recent times

superlatives etc.
i was struck by how the film brought out moments of great affect (particularly the brilliant last sequence) within a very formally structured environment.
lived up to its premise really - a great of piece of relevant and redemptive art

hope this movie gets more rep. with its dvd release
unless i was the only person to miss its initial run...
