  • The role of the client and the server
  • Thin clients and fat clients
  • Examples of clients such as web browsers and mail clients
  • Examples of servers such as print servers, mail servers and web servers


Im just wondering if anyone can explain the above dot points,

(communication.1.5.X)


For future reference it is in page 305-306 in davis

i cant seem to find the direct examples of this in HI, or Davis books, nor, macquire or excel. can anyone help me out.

Wikipedia has great info on thin/fat clients
In short a thin client is a system running on a light operating system and light hardware and depends heavily on the server (the mothership) for processing power .
A fat client is a full blown PC
