Headmaster Leon Nettley said in his statement that the ring "is not a Christian symbol and is not required to be worn by any branch within Christianity".
hes completely right - the ring is not a recognised requirement for the religion as an insitution as is the case moreso with the headscarves. now, if they banned her for wearing a cross she might have a bit more of a case.

headscarf is not a religious requirement either yet they allow it, they are being hypocrite. And yes the girl is just seeking cheap publicity and probably is trying to extort money from the school with ridiculous lawsuit like this.

i said it was moreso. i know it isnt legislated EXPLICITLY in any way (koran, sharia law rulings etc) but it has come to be accepted (generally, by most muslims etc) as a more important part of their religion. the koran verses concerning how women must dress are pretty implicit of women covering themselves, and the headscarf become associated with the religion.

Religion should not be put on a higher plane than any other arbitrary belief, including virginity.
