Hey guys.
I was unsucessful in my application for UNSW med; instead offered a place at Monash. While many people have told me the advantages of Monash Med (length, rep., etc...), the decision to move to Melbourne will put undue financial pressure on my parents.

What is the exact process of transferring between med programs in different unis and obtaining cross-credits? What criteria do they look at (e.g. GPA, UAI, etc...)? Just something I want to consider...

ummm
problem 1) u need both dean's approval.. and i dun know of any Monash to UNSW transfers

Financial pressures are not really grounds for transfer... benevolent funds are available to u... from the medsoc.. u repay when u graduate..
or
low interest loans from a bank.. NAB use to do them fro medical students..

problem 2) is courses are not aligned.. and usually there can be nice.. but ull start at a different point since Monash and UNSW are not the same.. Monash and Newcastle mabbe (?) but it would still a long shot

u may or may not get cross credits and will have to restart from yr 1..

ure GPA and ure UAI.. and both Dean's approval... a spot available... and a good reason... are usually the criterias
also Clayton is not as expensive as Melbourne so... its a hard excuse..

The faculty is usually willing to fund a bursary for students in financial difficulty. I know this guy in my course who came from interstate and his parents were having real trouble paying for all the setup costs associated with such a huge move....the faculty asked him to draw up an account of what he needed for the year and present it, they cut him a cheque.

Doesnt like centrelink provide "youth support" in this sort of a situation? Thats only if your parents income prove that they will be under financial difficulty shall you move away from home.
