Hi im kinda finding it difficult to grasp the idea of a situational analysis;
we have to write one based on this information about a hypothetical business:

'John Doughs Kitchen' : Customers initially patronized the restaurant but the quality of food and service
has deteriorated. John uses the LIFO system and excessive stock supplies often deteriorate and must be thrown out.
In addition, 23 serious cases of food poisoning have occurred. Government health inspectors have warned John about
closure when kitchens have been inspected. Produce and raw materials are sourced from interstate. Payroll,online ordering
and simple food preparations have been outsourced. Operations are duplicated and many tasks are not completed on time.
Restaurant bookings are only made over the phone and the only advertisement for JD's business is in the telephone book. John
also uses outdated technology and resists change. He has no performance objectives.

I havent done one for Business Studies before, but I've done a few in uni. You can structure it by using a PESTL analysis, SWOT analysis or a combination of the two.

Basically a situational analysis enables the business to determine how it fares with its competitors, as well as its position in that particular industry.
Like enoilgram had mentioned, you should use the SWOT analysis on this business- Strength & Weakness (internal of business) & Opport. & Threats (External of business)
