So I had this story completely developed in my head. I know the characters inside out, the setting, the events in the story - I had it all perfectly planned to the T. Then a few weeks ago I started to write, and my introduction in itself was around 500 words. Considering the max word count is 8000, I'm stressing out - I really don't know if I can fit it all in. Granted, my plot is quite complicated, but before I started to write I thought I could easily fit it into 8000 words. Now I'm in a dilemma.
Should I write the story anyway, even if it goes past 8000 words, and then see if I can cut parts out? Or should I just cut half the plot out now and then write, sticking to the word limit? Or should I completely change my idea into something that is not as complicated?
