I really struggle getting my point across in short answer questions.
What exactly should I include in a short answer question, like the AOS questions that are worth 3 marks?
Thanks

Legit techniques + explanation + direct link to the concept of belonging

3 markers (technique-based qns):
- 2 techniques if you're pro at explaining
- 3 if you're uncertain
- In terms of time, 5 sentences max, but you should be able to get it done in 4.

Don't waste time doing an intro sentence/summary or whatever, just write the damn answer down. idg how you you can struggle getting your point across unless you're waffling about something random because you don't understand the question/text, or unless you're wasting time writing beginning/end sentences.

My rule of thumb is, except for the last 5-6 marker.

How many marks it is + 2 = maximum line length of answer.

So a 1 marker would be 3 lines maximum (usually 2). A 2 marker would be 4 lines. A 3 marker would be 5 lines. etc etc. The trick is to put yourself into the brain of the examiner. If a 4 marker asks me to explain how two techniques are used to portray belonging in this poem, I'd automatically think one mark for each technique, and one mark for each explanation, with a quote.
