So I have to write this speech on the Shoe Horn Sonata. Basically we have to speak about which are the five most compelling images, one for each of the following themes:
v The conflict which existed between the two women until the end of the play
v The horror caused by the fall of Singapore
v The cruelty of the Japanese guards in the camps
v Glimpses of human kindness and resilience during wartime
v The surreal atmosphere as the women slowly realized that the war was over and the Japanese had lost
If you can just say the point and then the image and why it stuck with you would be fantastic.
I have chosen what I think are three good images for the last three points and some not so good ones for the first two.
