I have to write an essay to say whether Ramses II and Seti I were sucessful in re-establishing the empire of Thutmose III.

I'm thinking not, Thutmose III was such a great pharaoh, he left a lot for them to live up too.

What does everyone else think and why?

Firstly, remember what period you're doing. Anything about Thutmose really isn't relevant. You will never, I repeat, never get asked that question in the HSC. It implies that you know about the Thutmoside time.

All being said, Ramses did compare himself to the Thutmosides, so it can be relevant to an extent, but the main thing to remember when comparing him: Don't focus totally on "what he did", when a big part of being pharaoh is "What you say". Propaganda is a big part of their duty, and Ramses did it well.
