Do you mean "scaled" as in UAC scaling for the ATAR calculation? Or do you mean "aligning" as in BOS aligning for the HSC marks?

The difference? Are you talking about marks in the HSC (ie. Band 6, Band 5), or the marks to calculate your ATAR (ie. the top aggregate is 486, thus those students get 99.95, then the next aggregate range gets 99.90 etc.)? They are different things, although connected with each other.

Either way, if you perform well in all your subjects, the effects of scaling or aligning, whichever, become negligible.

I'm pretty sure all your subjects scale fairly well if not extremely well, which is a great advantage! whatever subject you do if you get really high in it, its going to scale well, although some subjects scale better than others overall, such as extension subjects, economics, sciences and some languages. Goodluck

The last three subjects won't be doing your ATAR any favours. At all.

What we need to remember is that scaling is dependent on the cohort size and performance but there are general trends, and as isplicer said the last 3 aren't that good :)

Modern history and History Extension scale quite well, iirc modern history in the 90's scales almost as well as physics and chemistry (Not 100% sure on this - maybe someone can confirm/disprove?). Even if your aim is 99.5+, both subjects wont do you much damage. However, SOR I is an average scaler.

According to Table A3 of 2011, His Ext scaled better on average than all the sciences, economics and 2U maths.

I retract my statement if that was indeed the case.

Apologies for any misinformation caused.
