for anyone that doesn't know what i'm talking about it's the little 'balance beam' picture under your av.

so how does it work? if someone is helpful do i click on it and it will give them a point? can i click on the same person more than once for different posts? or is it just in general, if they have a good reputation?

lol yes, maybe in the relationships forum?

can i also ask, what if you totally don't agree with someone's point of view, or you agree someone argued a point well or something? i guess you can give them good and bad ratings...

It's a feature we're trialling.

You should give and take reputation based on the usefulness of a user's post.

Members who have been around for longer and have more posts will have a greater effect when they approve or disapprove of other members.

You can use the feature 10 times per day, and I don't think you can vote for the same user twice.

Hovering the mouse over the reputation counter (next to your post count) will provide you with a brief description of that user's reptutation.

sounds exciting! i'm going to find a post i found very useful and rate the member now since i was so thankful

so you can't do the same member twice.. can you do them on different days?

also can you see your posts that have been rated and the comments?

So what do these points go up to? I don't think it's doing much for the self-esteem.

You end up like me? I'm only on 11

But sometimes not everyone sees the "helping" posts.

some general instructions on the feature (obviously laz has customised them), explains why laz and minai have a lot of rep and also how you can see your rated posts.. go to user cp and they will be there

I figured that I have 12 points of influence, admins have 50, and most users have 1 point of influence...there's probably some intermediataries that i havent worked out yet

I think besides certain member types eg. mods and admin, the points are closely linked to PCs.

From what I can gather so far, no you can't. Which prevents people from taking revenge =p
