here is the question bit...

Create a relational database, minimum 3 tables with 2 sample reports.
Produce a detailed document describing the processes carried out during the production of this database. You would be expected to have a schema defining your entities, attributes and relationships. Screen dumps of your tables, data dictionaries, schematic diagrams etc should be included.


im not sure what to do for the schema bit??? also, what are the sample reports?

They are talking about the erd (entity relationship diagram). Its similar to the figure in access when u design your relational database.

From what you've written, they are basically asking you to
- create a sample database.
- talk about the processes used to create the database. For example: collection of the data - where did u get the data for the table, how did u attain it etc. Do this for all the processes.
- create a schema.
- take screenshots of access when you are making your tables and defining the relationships between them. Your teacher should have taught you how to use access. If they havent, then its up to you to learn it..its not difficult.

If you are unsure what a schema and/or an ERD is, consult the henemann textbook. Alternatively you could look at the notes available on this website. An ERD (entitiy relationship diagram) is an example of a schema.

i cant think of a third table to do... i've got member information and item information. any ideas?

perhaps split up the member information table into two? personal details of member which can be different from perhaps the contact details of the member. or you could ad a table regarding the location of the item? when you say item is it like a book? or a rental video or what? perhaps if you make the third table a bit more specific, narrow down all the facts to get a nice and detailed relational database.
