For our school assessment task our given text is Merchant of Venice, whereby the main antagonist in Shylock responds to his religious prejudice with demanding of justice, but is ultimately overcome/overthrown in accordance with the Elizabethan, anti-semitic status quo.

Does anyone have suggestions for a related text that shows an individual that specifically overcomes/triumphs over their gender role (e.g oppression of women)/racial prejudice to show the progression of human experience over time?
