Okay so during the HSC we study a number of prescribed texts..

I do English Standard and our prescribed texts are as follows:

Area of Study (Belonging) - The Crucible

Module A (Experience Through Language: Distinctively Visual) - Maestro

Module B (Close Study of Text) - Wilfred Owen

Module C (Texts and Society: Into The World) - Billy Elliot

Am I right when I say that I need two related texts for the Area of Study, Module A and Module C..? And if so, does anyone have any recommendations on which related texts to choose..?

Thankyou :jump:

From what I know the whole requirement of Related Material is only for AOS, Modules A and C. (However, I am not 100% on this either, might be best to wait for a past HSC student to answer this).

For the AOS; my English teacher recommended we have 3 that we know in detail. However, she suggested that we should know 1 particularly in depth; and the other two we should be familiar with.

There's quite a few sites that have extensive lists of Related Material; such as:

And of course this site! My English teacher had her own folders full with Related Material with annotations and recommendations that I utilised to find my related Material for Belonging. But yeah, just google "English related texts belonging" or something similar if you're still stuck finding related material.

Best of Luck.

Most ppl on BoS would do English Advanced, which requires related text(s) for AOS and Module C.

Does anyone know if marks are deducted if you have both your prescribed and related text the same text type? I've been told no.

You won't have marks deducted. However, it may be harder to gain marks for having a broad analysis, if you use the same sort of techniques for both.
