I am currently ranked 35/64 for Adv Eng. What raw mark do I need to even have a chance of getting a band 6???

Also, what is the raw mark I should get for a high-mid band 5 ??

For SOR1, I don't know what rank I am but what is a raw mark for a band 6?

Depends what your school rank is.
Raw mark this year for a high-mid band 5 for Adv I guess would be 70-80/105.

School rank is approx: 80-85. Cohort is pretty strong.

Is 70-80 considering my rank ?
70-80 is assuming you get a similar mark in the internals.

You're probably looking at a band 5 maximum.

I'm cool with b5. It's still a good mark. I just hope I don't get a band 4..

I achieved 80 for trials... I think I might get higher in the HSC. We'll see.

btw: why is raw mark for SOR 1 so high ????

Probably because it's an easy subject (easier than others) or the exam is/was easy.

advance will definitely be lower this year for a band 6

around 75 i reckon

but everything equals itself out cos people do worse

edit: band 6 was 75+ last year

If you have a think about, SOR1 is pretty easy. Section 1 and 2 can be practiced using just rote learning; nothing challenging + Section 2 can be prepared using the past papers; they are almost always the same questions. Section 3 is pretty much the discriminator where your knowledge of your Depth Study needs to be spot on, but it is still achievable.

So what mark do I need with that rank if I can enter the band 6 zone

ok well assuming your internal is like 85, which might be a stretch in itself, your external will need to be 95 or so, so that's 92~/105

wow. Even 85 internal is pretty high, at least I thought it was...

I was predicting my internal to be like 70...

Just wondering does the hsc band you get incorporate both internal (moderated) & external marks or does the band we receive only based on our HSC exam (external) mark?

Just the mark from the HSC exam.
