okay this is a bit different, and i dont get it.....

what happens with hsc exam marks and ranks when say...

if person A gets ranked sayy 17th out of 45 people for a subject (internally),

and (externally) then all the peoples coming 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc get like all the same marks so people who came 1st to 7th all got 94, people who came 8th to 16th got 93, then there's person A at 17th, who got 91 (for exam marks)

what happens with moderation?

is 91 the 17th highest hsc exam mark?

or is 91 the 3rd best hsc exam mark, and persona A gets for his assessment some really low and shitty mark instead???

ok so youve got a student that came 17th out of 45 students
so basically when they all do their externals, the 17th best exam mark becomes that student's moderated assessment mark, plus whatever they got for the exam and divide that by 2 to give subject mark.
even though 91 is the '3rd best mark' its still basically 17th, so that 91 becomes his moderated assessment mark because he came 17th internally.
