I know this has probably been asked & discussed many times before
but i cant find any threads, so im asking again.

Im really confused about the ranking system
so weve had our first assessment
the top mark was 20/20
and i got 19/20
three people got 20/20
does that place me fourth ?
ive been told it does and im pretty peed, because it was just ONE mark:mad1:
and i remember reading something about differences between marks in ranks
thing is; i cant remember if it has an impact or not
so considering the diff between our marks is 1
does that mean even though im 4th it will still have a big impact
or not as much ?
im full burning.:bomb:
one mark puts me down 3 placess:(
thats soo rigged mannn
they shd b equal 1st's and then i should be second
sigh
:(

anyways any one that knows,
enlighten me please
id really like to know
:(

At this point in time, nope, since it's easy to pick up your marks. The only ranks that really count are the ones you get before your HSC exam.

yup i realise that . =)
but say the same applies with the final ranks,
like im behind just by 1-2 percent
would it have just as big an impact ?
and would my rank drop that much ?
its really ticking me off -_-"

yeah it will, because rankings are pretty much how many people are in front of you, plus one. so, [as you said above] if they were equal first, you would have to be fourth because you're the fourth best person in your class, there's three people above you. second doesn't make sense.

sigh *

so 1% or 10% the impact is the same ? in regards to affect on the final mark?

dont ur externals get determined by ur internals ?
because they dont know how hard a school marks
one might mark easier than another
so ur externals are determined by ur internals ?

i find it pretty confusing tooo
thats why i wna knoww
i think the system is soo rigged :(
prolly only because i feel disadvantaged though :p
bt still :(

ahh thanxx !
thts the site i was looking for . =)

but thats GAY !
even if i do better in externals the person below me gets my mark
if theyre going to consider the school mark first
then we should just be averaged.

correct me if im wrong
but this is really unfair ?

You get THREE marks.

a) The moderated assessment mark - that is the process by which the school's marks are adjusted to allow for the difficulty between schools by adjusting them to the external marks.

b) Your own aligned exam mark.

c) Your HSC mark which is the average of these two marks - the moderated assessment mark and exam mark.

lmao

3 people getting 20 and you getting 19 means 3 people are better than you deal with it

The difference in marks between ranks also counts, hence 4th by 1% is not that big.
