you can compare two texts through different types of contexts

for example,

HISTORICAL CONTEXT - year / century, and the particular events significant in that time e.g. war

SOCIAL CONTEXT - how people interacted and by what means / the social ladder - e.g. during shakespeare's time women were looked down on and referred to as 'whores'

PERSONAL CONTEXT - significant events to the persona, e.g. when the main character's father passed away

RELIGIOUS CONTEXT - self explanatory

CULTURAL CONTEXT - cultural practices / events of the time

by comparing contexts, you are drawing either SIMILARIES and DIFFERENCES between the two texts to make a point
