Question about Creative writing section (1 Viewer)

Hmm... I'm not really a pro at writing up a creative writing piece probably just ,above average... just wondering for this up-coming HSC which is a safe way to go
in the writing section should i write
- in first person
- or stick to third person :S ???

problem is when i write in first person, i tend to lack in some other aspect of the writing while in 3rd person i just seems to give an overview.... I'm willingly will put in the effort to focus in one of thoese area just up for suggestion that all, thank you

Just write in which one you feel most comfortable with.

Most people are most comfortable with 3rd person; my story is in 1st person XD

Yeah but i just want to no which one will be more effective, I'm really fine in any of the two that why i'm not sure... all i need is put in some hours and should do fine just don't no which will be more effective...

It depends on yoru story and what you're trying to do. You can have the exact same story, but in 1st person it would achieve something different to a 3rd person version of the same story.

If you have no idea, I suggest trying to write in 3rd person as it's generally the easiest. Just describe in detail instead of giving an overview and you should be fine

I find it's almost the same in all types of 'person' when writing a short story... I like first person (and involves a lot of self though/talk and then 3rd person is good for describing what you see).

1st person form is better for capturing heartfelt emotions and hardships that are overcome. Whereas 3rd person tells the story rather than showing it. However, when the markers mark your piece of work you will not be disadvantaged if you decide that you are more comfortable with 3rd person narration. As the markers are just looking within your creative writing piece that you understanding the multifaceted and complex nature of Belonging.

Good luck and if your totally confused after you have had an attempt ask your teacher for feedback!

As said above, first person is appropriate where you feel comfortable enough with the character/story.

I don't like first person, because more than anything, I'm writing a story I've made up, so I can only tell it from a 3rd person's perspective. I can't write linear narratives, so third person works well for me. I cringe when asked to write in first person, it's like I'm writing of my own experiences; disgusting if I do say so myself.

I suppose in first person you're lacking authenticity or maybe you're being melodramatic when writing. Try writing in 3rd person?

Very true indeed, I quite agree if done correctly; as in the way of Jane Austin and Raimond Gaita. However, some people may feel it easier to write in 1st person as they try and create empathy and develop an authentic protagonist of whom they can relate to, so that the narrative flows better and connections can be established. There is nothing wrong with 3rd person, sorry if you may have misunderstood me; as you can create a reflective piece that works like a memoir reflecting back on how aspects have changed for example 20 yrs on since the protagonist was a child who learnt a valuable lesson, etc. 3rd person narration having the ability of telling a story if you don't include aspects of textual devices to help shape the setting. For e.g. you may wish to emphasise the emotions through detail like: the barbed wire fence surrounded me and became a symbol of my oppression against the driving force of pain OR nature enveloped me like a cocoon and gave me a transcendentally uplifiting experience.
