I've looked around, and so far I can't seem to find answers to my question.

Hypothetical example:

If you are transferring in your first year of Commerce @ UNSW to Commerce @ USyd and the transfer is successful, do you start Commerce @ USyd as a second year student, or a first year student?

What about if you transfer from Arts @ UNSW to Commerce @ USyd, etc?

I'm just a bit confused about this aspect of transferring.

yes, if you study Barts at unsw and your are allowed to to study commerce at usyd, then you proceed to second year commerce at usyd the following academic year.*

I would think it depends on the amount of credit points you are allowed to transfer.

Yep, runnable is right. I don't know if this is unique to Nebuchandezzar (however you spell his name) but when he transferred from UNSW to USYD (don't remember what degree he did at UNSW but he's doing Science/Arts at USYD now) whatever he was allowed to carry over only counted for half at USYD, i.e. 6 credit points at UNSW was worth only 3 at USYD. You can ask him further, but yeah just putting it out there even if you get all your subjects credited it may not be to the full value and so you'll have to stay back and make up the rest.

Thanks for the information everyone. :)

I think I understand it at least a little bit better now.
