u seem smart what are your study methods for math/english?
haha, noo im rlly not smart but ill try to give u my tips anyways! i hope they help
so for english, the main thing is i just make sure to understand my essays really well so that i can adapt it.
like a problem i used to have and my friends as well, was that like we would memorise the essay and not spend enough time adapting it, instead we had the mentality of "i give up, whatever the q is im just gonna write my essay straight out bcs i worked so hard on it" which was rlly detrimental as if u don't practice adapting ur essentially throwing away all your work you did. like you can have a prememorised 20/20 essay to a set question but if u write that to a q in the exam that doesn't work then ur going to get max 17, and on the other hand even if u have a somewhat dodgy essay but answer the q rlly well, then a 20 is possible.
so like english fr consumes my soul for the few weeks before the exams bcs whenever i see a q i try to think of how i can change the concepts within each para to actually answer the q, like u don't even have to write it out or anything like at least think abt it seriously. so like i dont really understand it when people say 'read the text again and again' bcs instead of that i think if u have a good essay then make sure to know that really really well instead.
for writing the essays, i normally just look at nsb exemplars or good school exemplars and try to follow their way of writing, like not being vague or stepping out of the text : )
for maths, i think its just doing questions seriously.
like in y9/10 i used to be getting 50% on every test until like (idk some magical lock in for maths happened) where i did every single hw set by my teacher & more with like a not lazy attitude ifykwim. e.g not skipping the hard qs and trying to apply what i learnt from previous worked solutions that i saw to similar types of other qs. like every question is a learning experience that you can apply to a future q i feel, bcs unlike english, math qs generally have a formula that you can always follow for each type (since i only do 3u i wouldnt know anything above that if its different) and doing lots and lots of qs rlly helps u figure that out.
but tbh i think the way i approach maths is a bit wrong bcs in my practice i essentially end up memorising the way to do qs w/o understanding it & getting away with it often... instead, (from my friend whos often rank1) its better to actually understand the concept behind it
also for avoiding silly mistakes, which was my main problem, i get a piece of paper and write down where i most commonly made silly mistakes in my practice qs (e.g transcription errors) and look at it right b4 the test so i know what to avoid. this rlly helped for me!
help sorry i hope this makes sense T_T if u have any more qs feel free to askk if u want : )
whichever you have access to! in my school we never get the internal overall mark, so just in assessments is fine - your school likely has harder assessments but just saying the marks makes it easier to gauge, because though past b6s certainly help, every cohort is different (my school has swings haha)
ohh i see! i kinda don't remember the exact marks and averages for each task for each subject tho so idk if im able to provide them help sorry : (
