ANU generally needs UAI of 80 or more to get into, lowest courses are 80 but sometimes people with lower scores still get in. post the lowest score you got and course you got and still managed to be accepted into ANU. uniTEST does not count.

also what time of the year do you usually apply for university, and when do they give out your ATAR and the cut off marks.

UAC applications open around the beginning of August, most uni open days are late August/early September and applications close in mid-late September, so you have about a month and a half to apply through UAC. ATARs are being given out (this year) on December 17, a day after your HSC results come out.

About the cutoff mark, it doesn't actually work that way. The 'cutoff' is just the lowest UAI/whatever of someone to be accepted into a specific course, so you're essentially going off the previous years. They don't vary much from year to year so if you aim a couple of points above the previous year's cutoff you have a decent chance of getting into the course. You can't actually know, though, if you've gotten into your course or not based on the previous cutoff, you have to wait 'til the universities start to make offers in about mid-January.
