Hey, first post, but I intend to make more and contribute, it took me about 15 minutes to set up this account so ever second I take writing this is another second wasted not doing reasearch.

I have a small SaC class about 7 people max, on avarage 5 people show up.
My PiP is coming to an opening point were I should start collecting material and sources to utilize for my ideas.

My SaC teacher has asked us to submit our proposals in the form of a mind map and a few dot points of study areas.

My PIP idea is: Internet Addiction
Mostly focused around Online Gaming and in particular >World of Warcraft<, the personal relfections in this would be very relavent beacause I in fact am psychologicaly dependant to this video game and so is my Mum and Dad.
And its not hard to find a WoW addict so case studies will be easy.

I really want to know your opinoins on points I should focus on, some extra info, where I can get my scources and how to conduct reasearch into a palpable project.

I think its a pretty cool topic. In net cafes, particuarly those in the city, I'm sure you will find tonnes of internet/gaming addicts. Remember to approach the issue analytically (this means your pip shouldnt simply be description) and include quotes, statistics & pictures and footnotes where relevant. Being an internet/gaming addict yourself, you can rely on personal reflection for some information for your PIP. However, you must remember to constantly reflect upon your methodology and evaluate your research for bias and validity. Use a variety of research methodologies to corroborate with personal reflection. Also, don't forget the essential cross-cultural component - consider whether your research will be over time, age, ethnicity or something else.

Thanks for you input, but now that you mention it I can see this idea not working so well D:
It interests me and everything but it seems already justified and isn't really a hidden issue in society. What I'm getting at is "I don't want to do something that's been done before" type attitude. I want to be original but not so original its hard to find data and information.
Is there any chance of you hinting towards narrowing down or focusing on a particular aspect of this area so I can ponder some more?

What I am seeing is me being very vauge about my subject matter I need focus points, any suggestions?

I really appreciate your help,

UPDATE: I talked about it with my SaC teacher, Mr. Grey, great guy.

He is going to show me a previous PiP from last year, this way I'll get a good idea about the kind of area I want to build on,

Maybe you can explore the topic through its relationship with a particular social issue or society and culture concepts. Eg: Internet gaming as a form of escapism from feelings of alienation in the real world?

The topic of internet gaming may have been done before but if you're able to approach it from an original but interesting angle and meet all the marking criteria then there's nothing stopping you from getting a 30/30 on your PIP.
If you need any help, just PM me !

OMG PERFECT thats exactly what I was thinking when I reopened this page to view new replies, Alienation was a topic we did in adv english prelim so I know it in and out, putting that with the video game aspect and how it detaches you from your real life, how it is addictive beacause of it's less demanding world and in the view point of a recluse, better socialisation than they would find down their street.
