new&old.

Westpac have had the visa debit card for years. Had one since 1999.

While not advertised, if you called up and asked for an application form, you can/could apply.

Visa Debit has only been avaliable in Melb. and its being replaced by the DB Mastercard.

Other states have had no debit/credit cards from Westpac

Err well here's the thing, I need a debit card.

Which bank and which card are the best for a student? They don't seem to offer one at the Commonwealth Bank so I think I need to jump ships

Any advice appreciated.

westpac is good but you can't get a debit card with the tertiary/school savings account, you need a normal savings account which charges $5/month, but the debit card is included in this cost

St George have a Visa Debit and you can get it on a normal student savings account as such so no account fees. Seem to be alright to deal with I find havent had too many problems.
