__1__ ..... or ...... __x^-2__
2x^2 ......................... 2

is both allowed in exams
also same question but with leaving as fraction indices or roots

Shavi I know ur reading this
unless the question specifies to leave the negative indices negative, it's usually (probably) safer to leave it with no negative indices bc that's the most simplified version of the equation??? usually. i think both should be fine though?? i just get scared of missing a "simplified form" when reading the questions so i just automatically unnegative it. but if the question itself presents negative indices and there's no instruction telling you to simplify it, then go ahead and keep the negatives there if you want. i'm just used to automatically simplifying it so i play safe

the same basically applies to fractions & roots, unless it specifies to leave it a certain way i usually leave the answer as rational & simplified as it can be

ok so its like a preference thing, whichever is easier, e.g. u were given a question with a square root so u leave it as square root
thanks

The nemesis of all maths adv and above students. The single reason that you loose 5 stupid marks in an exam. The part that requires no working or skill and you just need to remember to write +c. Yet you forget it. The bane of all mathematicians’ existence.
🤣 you won't catch me falling for it

it really is funny how half the time whenever i do integration questions i could barely remember it,,,,, i love properly pulling down all the x's with all the correct powers and coefficients and then becoming the family guy death pose as i recheck my answers just to figure out i forgot one question's +c. it hurts man

both r ok but its always good to give it back the way its presented in the question so if they have the pos one its just nicer to give ur ans with the pos one as well
