IF anyone could anwser the following I would appreciate it:
Question:
The equation of a circle whose centre is x^2 + y^2 + 4x - 2y - 20 = 0
Find:
(a) the length of the tangent to this cirlce form the point (5,2),
(b) the length of the intercept on the Y-axis
Note: This symbos ^ means to the power of
This is what I tried doing:
(x + 2)^2 + (y - 1)^2 = 20 + (2)^2 + (-1)^2
(x + 2)^2 + (y - 1)^2 = 25
Therefore x = -2, y = 1, the radius is 5 (25 ^1/2 = 5)
And now I am stuck...
