Need Help: Graduate Diploma in Psychology (online) - Where to study? UNSW or UTS (1 Viewer)

Greetings all.

I am looking to start studying the online Graduate Diploma in Psychology, hoping to do an honors year then and Master in Clinical Psychology. The Grad diploma and Honors can be done online and the Master degree has to be done on campus no matter what uni I go to later.

I received an offer to study at UNSW and UTS and cannot decide. Can someone with knowledge please let me know where would be a better place to study Psychology?

Note: I know UNSW is ranked higher and more reputable for Psychology courses, but my question is: does it REALLY matter where you study as long as you do well and eventually finish and seek employment in the field?

I would like to know all the factors to consider, not just the world ranking of the University. I already have an undergraduate degree from UTS and studied a long time ago for a semester at UNSW undergrad, but that shouldn't matter for this online Grad diploma and Honors year.

I would appreciate anyone's input on the experience of studying the entire way, from Grad diploma, to honors year to Master degree in Clinical Psychology.

Note 2: I am leaning towards UTS as I am familiar with it, but don't know if I am missing out on a more reputable and better program in UNSW (or if it matters).

I think that it is more about admissions rather than reputation. Essentially, since the Graduate Diploma and the Honours year are merely steps towards receiving an offer for the degree that really matters, the Master of Clinical Psychology, the specific university that you choose to attend to complete them is not as important (since neither the Graduate Diploma nor the Honours year lead to general registration on their own), as long as you meet the admission criteria for the Master of Clinical Psychology. However, there is also the perspective that it is better to study and perform well at a more reputable university to maximise your chances of receiving an offer, especially if you end up choosing to study the Master of Clinical Psychology at a more reputable university (i.e. UNSW), although I believe that you can still receive an offer in either case, i.e. academic performance is the most important factor.

Generally speaking, for medicine and related/similar fields such as psychology, the university that you attend is not an important factor. This is different when compared to other fields like law, where the university that a graduate attended is taken into consideration, especially when applying for larger and more established firms. As such, it seems that UTS would probably be the better choice based on your circumstances.

I wouldn't want to be the uni's guinea pig for testing out a degree.
