I get these worksheets from bio for titan eductaion , was wondering if anyone knows were i can find answers to them to check if im right.


Question

And experimental test cross can be carried ot to determine whether or not a purple flowering parent is heterozygous it involves crossing the plant to be tested with a homozygous recessive plant use this method to determine the phenotypes of the offspring when the parent plant is :
i) homozygous
ii) heterozygous

I dont get what there asking in quesiton like this someone please explain cheers

I don't think the question was very clear as it did not provide what characteristic we were observing. i.e. are we observing the colour of the plant where purple is dominant and another colour is recessive?

I'm going to presume that the purple colour is dominant, because if it is heterozygous, it can only be dominant (you can't have a heterozygous recessive). Do you get what I mean? bit confusing, sorry. So if the purple flower was
i) Homozygous, the phenotype of the offspring would be 100% purple.
ii) Heterozygous, the phenotype of the offspring would be 50% purple or 50% the recessive colour
