its alwayysss going to be sooo much content and so much work, especially when you get to trials/HSC and have every section to memorise content for

I worked through in sections for power and authority and change in the modern world - how you memorise content is dependent on yourself, though, for me, this was making notes and answering past questions til I had memorised it.

For the essay topics, I made essay plans and only memorised the content I had in the essay plans - this cut down a lot of unnecessary content that wasn't relevant to these plans. Go through the syllabus and for each area, make a plan. eg. for Russia/USSR national study, I had a plan for Stalin's rise to power (this covered me for questions about the power struggle), the nature of Stalinism, and the Political/Social/Economic transformation (this also covered questions about the use of terror and totalitarianism)

Do this study and preparation gradually, spread out from now all the way to trials/HSC. That way it won't feel like you are overwhelmed with content and study -revise these plans and write up practice essays to different questions and adapt with the content you know.

thank you so much🙏 also, how detailed was each essay plan, if you were memorising each of them how do you make sure that it was enough but also not too much to remember?

How i best study for content-heavy subjects is by teaching it to others. obviously first write all your notes I'm not a very concise note writer so mine r like 8 million words long but once I am finished every time I have a test to study for I just teach it to my friend like its some stupid gossip or story IT SOUNDS SO STUPID but if your able to put it into your own words and explain it to someone (another modern student don't even bother harassing others) it rlly like tests ur understanding n if u forget something go look back at your notes.

once u feel like u have a good idea of ur content id just start practising responses. to make sure u know content, just do a bunch of random ones for me I don't even get them marked Likely worst nightmare personally is being in a test and just NOT KNOWING WHAT TO WRITE NEXT so I find myself asking obscure questions to make sure I'd at least know howto answer it. if u want it marked, i'd recommend joining ace hsc server on discord They've got a bunch mentors and like resources who will definitely help you. i remember someone marked my modern essay gave me a 13/25 OMG I CRASHED OUT n I applied their feedback and in my actual test I got a 22/25.

i will warn u tho they don't always reply and there's some annoying and rude people there cuz its discord they're all bums at the end of the day

I'd show you but I can't find half of them anymore... so I honestly don't remember exactly - I don't think they were THAT detailed, they were just in dot point sentences. I have a good memory, so I remembered the content quite easily. I used the plan to write an actual essay and once I had done that I sort of just remembered it, that's not overly helpful lol sorry!! I think you have to try it yourself and work out the best ways for u to memorise/your capacity
