Hi ppl,

The question is What motivations are absent from government ownership??

do you guys/girls have any ideas/hints on how to answer this wanky question???ive googled it and wasnt happy with the info.

so if u know any good web-sites/economics textbooks, please help

P.S. ive posted the same q's in USYD forum but no replies, maybe in not cool enough to post on USYD forum??

The employees in government controlled firms get paid no matter what, non-government firms don't have that luxury, if they don't try then they don't get paid. K, start attending the lectures, Ed dwelt on the issue a fair bit. Hope this helps.

absent in normal business compared to government ownership?

If it's that way you could say social costs are directly considered by the government, while in private they are not.

If the other way around, profit is not essential in goverment owned businesses, only providing a high level of service in an efficient manner.
