Man I feel like an idiot. Earlier today I expressed a significant amount of rage in a thread about a teacher moving me in roll call. But honestly, being insulted made me think a little about myself.

Recently, I feel like everything is wrong. I get upset really easily (I got so upset over a freaking seat). I can't really study much any more, everything feels boring and repetitive. I feel tired and I don't really sleep well. My smart friends are boring to be with and my sit-around-playing-games friends don't really make me feel like I'm part of them (I'm TRYING to study a lot now).

What can I do to get some energy back? Everything is so blakh right now.

Find an activity to calm you down.

Personally I used sports as a form of relaxation and even meditation away from studies.

I played soccer throughout HSC and for a long time now with a club which would give me the opportunity to experience something new every week.

I do bike riding as a stress reliever sometimes and I end up taking in some amazing and calming sights and views around lake and bush areas. Sometimes I just use it as a form of gaining extra energy to feel refreshed and ready for anything that comes at me.

I went through a tonne of shit during the HSC year and couldn't focus. I coped by working - though I don't think that'll help you. I also made friends with the history faculty and hung out there. There I managed studying, they made me an honourary casual. LOL

I am going to objectively analyse the key elements of your problem and suggest a few solutions for you.

I think you can reduce the frequency of you getting upset easily by concentrating on improving the things you can control, and ignoring those you can't. For example, in this situation, you can't control the fact your teacher asked you to move, however, you are fully in control how you react to this situation. So make sure you are more aware of your emotions and try to control them better in the future to ensure you have a more stable emotional gradient which is essential for HSC success. Develop an optimistic attitude towards all things in life-there will always be many others in the world who are more unfortunate than you are-developing gratitude and optimism are very important to assisting you to succeed not just in school, but also in life:).

You need to evaluate your current study schedule and study method, you need to add variety to your study routine to make study less tedious. Perhaps consider studying with friends, or doing more challenging questions, or maybe presenting and summarising the information you have learnt in mind maps (if you are a visual learner) or record your notes (if you are an aural learner). I think in this case, you need to step away from your study for a day and two and really reflect on what aspect of study YOU CAN CHANGE to make it fun and engaging. You are in control of how you study, remember to have shorter study sessions and REWARD yourself for achieving objectives or finishing assessment tasks. Don't burn out.

I think you need to make sure you are establishing a regular sleeping pattern and stick to it. Furthermore, concentrate on study when you study, and when you relax, remember to don't worry about study. Don't try to think about too many things before you go to sleep, make sure you do plenty of physical exercise every day which can assist to improving your sleep quality, perhaps try to listen to some relaxing music turned at low volume to help you sleep. Sleeping well is quite important for maintaining strong immune system and good physical health.

Well, consider your ATAR goal and career goal-what sort of university course are you aiming to get into, your smart friends can assist you in your studies and make the journey feel less lonely, perhaps you should change your attitude and perspective on your friends, be grateful that you have friends, and appreciate their personality and quirks. Perhaps when you study, sit with your smart friends, and perhaps during lunch times and recess when you want to relax, sit with 'playing games' friends, be engaged socially, it will make your school life much more pleasant. Don't study throughout your lunchtime and recess and sacrifice time with friends, you need to achieve high efficiency study, not trying to study 24/7. Remember, it is the QUALITY of your study time, not the QUANTITY of your study time that matters the most.

You need to find some intrinsic source of motivation and really ask yourself what do you want to get out of this HSC year, do you want to have any regrets at the end of the year?. You need to make sure the goals you establish for yourself is not based on expectations of other people, but based on yourself and your desire. You should connect more with friends, or find some time every week to do things you genuinely enjoy-whether it be a sport, socialising, playing an instrument, or it can be as simple as lying down on your bed and listening to some motivational/relaxing music.
