Just a question to all the "mature-age" students (non-recent hsc). How do you guys figure you'll stand in terms of work after uni? Do you reckon that potential employers would discriminate you because of older age?
I am mature age, and have just started studdying BAppFin / BComm Accg this year, having previously studied BSc Psych (4 units to finish).

hey not that im an employer or anything but i have worked in recruitment...

i only do screening n shortlisting n stuff n have done a few interviews (under supervision) ... and its seriously jsut how you present yourself, ur personality whether you can speak clearly etc... but on ur resume don't put ur age.. its illegal for employers to ask your age in an interview blah blah etc.

Also cyan is definately right.. im guesing you've had more experiences elsewhere outside uni and highschool :) ... which would be a leg up.

If i was an employer i'de rather employ the older person because they're more mature, have world experience and the job world thats extremely important

blah sorry if im not making sense lol sooo tired

Akiva - U finished the HSC the same as me, meaning your 22 - 24 years of age!!

Your still young, its definatley not a disadvantage at all. You just need to look at the positive side and sell that to the employer!

If you need any help, let me know!!
