MATH1041 Statistics for Life & Social Sciences is compulsory for 2008 B.MedSci students...Is this HSC 4 unit type work? Is it really difficult and complex? Would a HSC 2u maths background student struggle to pass this subject?

Nope! ;) It focuses as its name suggests on statistics.

If you passed MATH1031 (if this is what they still call the course) in first sem maths, then no doubts you will be able to also pass this course with ease.

Most who get credits in 1031 will most likely get credit-distinction for 1041.

The course mainly focuses on means (averages), medians, how to analyse P(squared values), read statistics tables. But its pretty boring stuff, the lecturer who is an old lady (nice in personality but dreadful in teaching). Almost Every lecture, you'll have a person writing the step by step solution to a problem on an overhead projector.

Best thing to do is to buy the textbook, makes life much easier. When it comes to exams, they also give you the formulas, making it doubly as easy.
