60% general maths (which i did)
which was a 10th placing

leaving my overall at 7/56

70% geography
which was 6th

leaving overall
8/25

and the rest of the results below in my sig kept constant
at my school rank of 105-110ish

would the mark lower my atar?
or yeh. cause everyone performed poorly/ or the marking was harder =?

Ur mark doesn't matter... in the end, your ranking is the most important thing.
IMO, estimate wise: 80 is definitely achievable with your current ranks.
Try hard in your externals and you should definitely surpass 80. =)

Raw internals marks don't matter, only rankings do.
This is because, the average (mean) external HSC mark becomes the average internal mark.
First place receives the highest external mark, whilst last place receives the lowest external mark.
The rankings between receive moderated marks, according to the HSC performance.
Because of this, your actual raw marks don't mean anything. It is only your ranking, and then your cohort's performance in the HSC as well as your own performance in the HSC.

So wait, if you go shit and say you get 50% and come like 20/80 then would you get massively scaled up?? Since you are ranked okish?

Do a past paper for every subject under exam conditions in this next week and hand them to your teachers to be marked then get back to us.

Well i wouldn't use the word 'scale up' - its all dependent on how your entire class goes in the externals. But basically the 50% doesn't matter.
The Board of Studies doesn't consider your raw internal mark because different schools set different assessments and mark them differently.

Oh ok, so basically pretty much ace these external ones and the marks you get would scaled depending on how your cohort goes against the other schools? IE so if you do better than the schools with a higher school assesment mark you are more likely to be scaled up? If that makes sense?

Scaling is a complicated process and they use many marks. Suffice to say that just do the best you can in school and the HSC.
