Hi I'm starting a commerce degree in march in unsw.
what are your thoughts on a marketing & finance double major?
the education system in australia is very different from mine so i'm still trying to understand exactly how it works, but imsupposed to finish it in 3 years.

anyway i thought i would just ask for some opinions.

i know macq and unsw have some awesome finance courses from what i heard. i love unsw as a uni, very un-quake2-appearence-like UTS, and very un-cathedral-like USYD

Are you aiming to work in finance or marketing?

If finance, I would have chosen finance/accounting.

I hated accounting, but as a major, I think it is very useful and I would have double majored in finance/accounting if UNSW permitted me to.

some random engineer told me that marketing and finance is a decent combo, but accoutning and finance is probably the best. thats a guaranteed job combo. consider marketing and econometrics if you dont mind stats.

Actually marketing/finance is a good combo for hedge fund/equities etc sales jobs.
