The financial market is a conduit through which surplus funds can be exchanged for financial products, and in turn be directed into deficit funds. This process serves to connect savers/lenders and investors/borrowers – unaided by financial intermediaries with the proper expertise, the average saver usually cannot access the most favourable investment opportunities within the market, leading to inefficiency in the economy.
The ability of the financial market to facilitate the trading of financial products improves efficiency in the overall economy.
[FONT=&quot] The existence of the financial market (the market) is imperative to the functioning of the Australian economy. Needs of lenders and borrowers can be met by a range of specialised markets which can be classified as primary and secondary financial markets (the former referring to the market in which original assets are traded, and the latter for pre-existing assets) or by the type of financial product being sold (e.g. are equity, debt, derivatives and foreign exchange markets). Financial institutions within the market aim to increase the efficiency of transactions between parties and maximise the types of expenditure available to investors.

and that's all i've got so far: a product of a four-day crash course of prelim eco.
