Ok, i have a problem, as you may know in HSC physics you are asked to carry out may experiments, this one in particular asks that you make a cage around a magnet with brass rods and place a second magnet over so it is to hover - no biggie. The question asks later:

Determine the magnitude and direction of the repulsive force when the two magnets are in equilibrium - one above the other.

WTF does it mean that the magnitude is constant anf repelling and the direction is oppisite or what?
PLEASE HELP...

would the magnitude be the downward gravitational force of the hovering above the magnet balanced by an equal amount of upward magnetic force due to the bottom magnet? THey would have to be in same magnitude (as it is in equilibrium)...
