I was scared too but I found that by just;
a) doing the readings (well some of them)
b) paying attention in class
c) reading the homework/weekly class preparation questions beforehand and trying to think of an opinion/point of view

... I found the subject a lot better.

The other big tip I have is to try and guess what the final exam questions/topics will be. You usually have a choice of 2 out of 3. Obviously one is general, one will be trust distributions and one will be dividend imputation. The imputation one will be almost identical to the tutorial question in the final week so do that one for practice and get it perfect before you go into the exam- then you can just copy it into the exam and boom one question down. The other requires you to either be good at trusts or to remember the basic concepts of income.

Either way I was scared of this subject but it ended up being both my favourite and highest mark in uni.
