Before anyone jumps the gun, I will mention the fact that I read and re-read the UOW FAQ posted on here but it failed to answer my question.

When I was attempting to create my timetable yesterday, the issue of lectures confused me. It confused me a lot. For example - the Marketing Principles (MARK101) subject description lists contact hours as this: Contact Hours: 2L 1T. The timetable for this subject looks like this (just the lectures):

2005/Wollongong/AUTM/MARK101/Marketing Principles

Lecture Mon 12:30 14:30 35.G45
Lecture Mon 17:30 19:30 20.2

Now I know that these aren't repeat lectures, but they both last 2 hours. In the contact hours described in the subject description, does 2L stand for 1 x 2hr lecture, or 2 x 2hr lecture? I find it hard to believe that I would have 4 hours of lectures for the same subject on the same day. So somebody please help and tell me whether or not I have to go to both?!

A singular 2 hour lecture. I find it hard to believe you read and re-read anything at all.

Yes, there may well possibly be repeat lectures on the same day.

Thanks for your help santaslayer, the added sarcasm wasn't necessary but I guess now I understand why so many people love and appreciate you - I don't know how I ever could have been confused considering the amount of different ways the contact hours have been set up. My sincerest apologies for being a confused first year.

Yeah....do Accounting 1A as well...coz u have to do 1B 2nd session...boring stuff though...

Online timetable...that shouldn't worry you too much yet. Worry about it later after orientation. During orientation you will of picked your subjects. At home go through SOLS (the place where UoW students go online for ALL their uni crap) ...and you should have a shorter and much more concise timetable that is ONLY relavent to YOU.

What you do is go through each course you'll be doing 1st session. that is, read over the brief introduction it provides...(it should be a link)...and from there, you'll see information on your contact hours for that particular subject. it should say crap like:

1L, 2 T, 1S....

some crap like that...
which means 1 hr lecture, 2 hr tute and 1 hour seminar....

from that informTION you should be able to go through the timetable (in SOLS) and work out a decent timetable....

because the uni is undergoing a change in timetabling....your timetable shoud be somewhat flexible....

before it was 1st in 1st served... (easy)

now its a preference systemm....*fuck*

you shopuld understand after orientation....

EDIT: Lexi is GAAAAAAAAY

LoLz...thanks everyone. :p

Just a bit annoyed that questions have been asked and answered, asked and answered...yet asked and answered....repetition...

poloktim should not only include a FAQ about how to enrol, but how to succeed in uni, ...and then maybe a FAQ about how to succeed in life....juggle a family and career...get rich....

yes, the above was intended to be sarcastic

Well thanks everyone, and thank you santaslayer because thanks to your handy information (though repetitive) I was able to create a very time efficient timetable and thanks to the friendliness of everyone else I once again believe that Wollongong was the right choice for me.

Sorry for twisting your panties. ;)

Everyone does realise that the timetable they just worked out may be very very different from the real one. Right?

Timetables do tend to change a little, but not much. I dont know my full time table yet, and i dont think i will until uni goes back. Doesnt bother me :)
