I'm doing Family & Workplace, is it safe to just study the contemp issues and not any other dotpts? thanks

I wouldnt take the risk - you should have a strong knowledge of the syllabus as a whole. Also, its also beneficial to look at Themes and Challenges part of the syllabus, because the HSC questions are often based on those dot points.
