I'd use the "home" argument. It depends on the journey eg: Rabbit Proof Fence. It is the GOAL that drives them. Their journey does not aquire any greater understanding at all. Nothing about how "white" settlement being bad because the director delibratley placed an aboriginal ranger, as well as a helpful "white" man in the narrative to avoid this racist conclusion.
One of the girls don't actually get to go home - what's the use of the journey then if they don't go home? It is actually a loss, a tragedy that the destination was not reached.
Also be BROAD on the word "home". It's not only the place that holds your family. Home can mean anything - eg: comfort zone, etc. Hope that's a good starting point.
