I want to become a doctor for both personal and financial reasons (my family is pretty much in poverty). My mum was a doctor back in China but after coming here she lost her job due to poor english etc, but she always told me about how great it was to be able to save lives, be respected during her career and at the same time live comfortably. So I'm really considering it but I heard a lot about how "it wasn't worth it" and "you won't have a life" plus it takes ages or something and half the students don't pass despite getting into med school? Sounds really rough and it would suck if I put in effort but get kicked out at the end so can anyone wiser out there explain the course of medicine and their personal outlook on it in detail to me please? Thanks! :caffeine:
