Hi guys,

I was just wondering who has done introductory economics and accounting information for managers.

I am finding these 2 units particularly difficult and have no idea what the lecturer is even talking about esp with introductory economics. It is so BORING!

What are the exams and tests like for intro economics and acoutning info for managers?

could someone who has done these two units before give me some advice as to how i should tackle these 2 subjects?

If it doesn't come naturally to you and they are core units the only thing you can do is keep on top of things and study hard. Intro Eco doesnt have very hard assessments, a multiple choice test and a group assessment based on case studies to which the answers are in the textbook and 50% of the final exam is also multiple choice, if they've kept it the same.

Just keep up and ask the lecturer or a classmate to help you if you don't understand.

i did Introductory Economics last semester. yes, it was boring to me too. i passed with 59. i didnt hate it, but didnt like it much either. i never did any economics before i did this unit, so all the content was fairly new, and both my tutor and lecturer had VERY thick accents so i didnt pick up on much. i think i just scraped by reading the etxtbook and at least attempting the hoemwork each week.

The mid semester was very easy. 50 multiple choice questions. i got 30/50. and there was a group assignment which was very easy as well. just answering questions from case studies in the textbook.

i found the final pretty easy as well. half M.C, half short answer response questions.

EDIT: LOL i just read the post above mine. my bad.

thats bull.

i topped eco last year and i NEVER went to class.

this is my secret.

i read the textbook every week. the textbook for eco is one of the best ive ever seen for a subject. i struggled with all the curves and shit but theres enough common sense questions in the multi choice to get you through.

common sense is a big thing in eco.

accounting i struggled a bit though, but i was lazy there.

Reading and summarising the textbook is definately the key. I for one found the lectures near useless, and thus didn't attend. Make sure you summarise some notes from the textbook which make sense to you, do some MCQ at the end of the chapter and then do the tests on the accompanying website. This will certainly help you in the final exam as well as the mid semester (50 MCQ).
Good luck :)
