What would be the strongest arguments for the importance of Operation Barbarossa and the Battle of Stalingrad?
OP: the opening of an eastern front which diverted german resources

S: lost war on eastern front, superiority of allied and their boosted morale

I'd probably look at the following:

- The strategic implications, as Germany were forced to fight two enemies which led to a two front war.
- Loss of supplies/manpower
- Decrease in morale
