'Identifying' the thingies used to measure radiation e.g. geiger mullet counter (1 Viewer)

So do we just need to 'identify' as the syllabus says? would they ask these beyond multiple?
or should we learn descriptions/how it works/diagrams (in all peoples notes ive seen they are pretty detailed but i thought it wouldnt go beyond 'identify'

its mostly multiple choice but sometimes they do ask in section II. not much usually 1-2 marks or 3 at the most. Just know what it is, what it looks like as a diagram and know how it works at a basic level and youll be fine. Learn at least 2 because they asked for 2 once.

Highly doubt you'll get asked a question worth beyond 3 marks about instruments that measure radiation. Just have a rough idea of the 4 instruments -

Photographic film - darkens when in contact with radiation. This is because of the reaction within the silver halide crystals of the film
Geiger counter - consists of a conductive tube filled with argon gas and high voltage connected to the outer-casing and electrode. Radiation ionizes argon atoms and the high voltage causes the resulting electrons to accelerate towards the electrode ionizing more argon atoms.
Scintillation camera - detects non-ionizing radiation. The radiation transfers energy to a fluorescent molecule in order to give off light. Electrons jump up to higher energy levels when energy is absorbed.
Cloud chamber - an air tight box which consists of a super-saturated vapour, either water or alcohol which is cooled by dry air. Radiation ionizes the air and the vapour condenses around the ions producing a visible trail of radiation.
