4. Which area of your well-being is affected strongly by music? And why? (Please elaborate)

Emotional well-being – (Happiness, stress, personal feelings)
I guess litening to music helps me to de-stress, especially after a particularly bad or hard working day

Physical well-being – (Exercise, bodily changes, sleep)
"Dance to the music" Great to excercise to! My morning jog wouldn't happen without some 80's rock to listen to. Classical is good to put on at night

Social well-being – (Interaction, going out, socialising)
I go to a performing arts high, even outside of music classes, music is a huge part of life there.

Intellectual well-being – (memory, concentration)
Certain songs can help to trigger certain memories. Listening to music while I'm studying helps to improve my concentration

Psychological – (positive or negative thought processes)
It can be a mix of both. It depends on what I'm listening to and how I feel as to what my thought processes are when I'm listening to some music. Jazz usually = thoughtful, classical and rock usually = happy.

4. Which area of your well-being is affected strongly by music? And why? (Please elaborate)

Emotional well-being – (Happiness, stress, personal feelings)

i like to listen to music to make me happy, it helps me to relax and be happy about good things that are going on. it helps me celebrate good times and it increases some emotional pleasures. when im down i listen to music that suits that mood too. it doesn't usually help but it is kind of comforting. i think it is something about knowing someone else has experienced bad things as well- i'm not alone when i feel sad or pissed off or lonely, it's comforting and sometimes soothing.

Physical well-being – (Exercise, bodily changes, sleep)

not really sure what you mean. but i'd rather exercise with music on. i'm not a big exercise person and i don't get motivated unless there's something interesting about it. i prefer team sports with competition, and exercising alone with some form of engagement like music- as opposed to exercising alone without music, getting bored. if that makes sense....

Social well-being – (Interaction, going out, socialising)

parties are crap with crap music, and i love to listen to music before going out, while getting ready- alone or with friends. it makes me happy and i love dancing when i go out and just mucking around with mates. live music is alos one of my favourite parts about going out. it's an amazingly unique experience which is just so much fun, and great to share with other people. music is a huge huge part of my socialisation and how i relate to other people. i would not necessarilly hang out with people much if they didnt like to dance around like a fool to some trashy pop song.

Intellectual well-being – (memory, concentration)

unlike some people i dont find it helpful to listen to music while studying or anything. it doesn't help me much with memory. some music can help to calm me down. i also do music as a subject at school- if that means anything. i find it itneresting intellectually to study music.

Psychological – (positive or negative thought processes)

the type of music i listen to will sort of dictate how i feel. it can enthuse me or keep me feeling down. i think it is good to feel support from music, whether in a postive or negative way, if that makes sense. it's kind of like a friend that is always there, and has a lot of changing faces to suit all your moods and support you with however you want to feel.

Emotional well-being – (Happiness, stress, personal feelings)
Feelings or nostalgia is sometimes triggered by certain bands and certain songs.
Depending on what band/song is playing, varied emotions of happiness, depression and anger are mainly brought on by music i listen to.

Physical well-being – (Exercise, bodily changes, sleep)
I sometimes need to listen to music in order to get to sleep.

Social well-being – (Interaction, going out, socialising)
Most of my friends i go out with are heavily into somewhat the same music as i am. Music is a common ground in which we share and we use it to meet people when seeing local bands because it gives us something to start a conversation with.

4. Which area of your well-being is affected strongly by music? And why? (Please elaborate)

Emotional well-being – (Happiness, stress, personal feelings) Music always makes me feeling better. If I have had a bad day at school or a fight with a freind/family member then i put on some music and it just relaxes me and makes me forget everything. Like Josh Groban, when im sad i put on his music and i feel so much better. Also when songs remind me of times in my life that are good, i will listen to them thousands of times!

Physical well-being – (Exercise, bodily changes, sleep)
sleep...music on low helps me to sleep sometimes.

Social well-being – (Interaction, going out, socialising)
people with the same likeness as me are always great to meet coz i have so many different musical tastes its erasy for me to talk to people about music. listening to music while getting ready is a must (especially on saturday night with Jukebox SAturday night on WSFM haha).

Intellectual well-being – (memory, concentration)
i like to listen to music while i study...doesnt help me or nething, it prob makes me forget bout the homework and just sing along to it...so i put on celtic/instrumental music and tha helps me. I cant do work in silence...freaks me out!

Psychological – (positive or negative thought processes)
umm not sure what this means...but music is a necessity in my life! i can not live without it...even if i really hate the song i need something. it just helps me to stay sain.

Emotional well-being – (Happiness, stress, personal feelings)
music can make me happy. when the music reflects my mood it helps me relieve stress by singing along and having a cry.

Physical well-being – (Exercise, bodily changes, sleep)
i dunno

Social well-being – (Interaction, going out, socialising)
music is a topic that me and my friends discuss frequently. it gives us something to talk about- we socialise over it. its annoying when u can't agree on music and someone is left out.

Intellectual well-being – (memory, concentration)
i can NOT think when there is music on! I can't concentrate at all. I know that some people feel that music keeps them on their chair and helps them get through doing their homework, etc.

Psychological – (positive or negative thought processes)
the lyrics to some songs are quite controversial and can influence the way you think and feel about things. i have never really given it much thought.

4. Which area of your well-being is affected strongly by music? And why? (Please elaborate)

Emotional well-being – (Happiness, stress, personal feelings)
There are many different songs that have been written throughout the ages, about basically every mood and feeling and situation i am feeling. When i listen to this music i feel like i have tapped into the authors psychie, and i have a sort of guiding force to help me...

Physical well-being – (Exercise, bodily changes, sleep)
Some songs are wonderful to dance to, as well as work out etc, and this can really help motivate me to get active, which ultimately increases my fitness and happiness.

Social well-being – (Interaction, going out, socialising)
I find that music is sort of niversal, and even if you dont share the exact same tastes as someone else, it is always very telling about a persons character if you think about the different music they are into. Its a good way of socialising, not to mention going out and dancing. Good music is the BASIS of a good night out!

Intellectual well-being – (memory, concentration)
Some people say that music like Mozart can make kids smarter, and i havent really tried it so i cant tell, and some people find it easier to study with headphones on. I dont, but its good that it can make people relax and concentrate.

Psychological – (positive or negative thought processes)
It really depends on the mood you are in, if you want to have a good time, there are songs for having a good time, and if you want to sit in your room and cry, there are songs for doing that too.

5. How often do you listen to music?
