So I've heard UNSW is awesome in terms of gigs, parties and everything. How does MQ compare?
I mean, your uni experience should be made up of other things other than your degree...

talk away!

Pretty good, actually. Conception Day is always good :D and it has a nice, welcoming feel to the uni, cheap drinks ;) pretty nice people, I enjoy it.

I wouldn't wanna go to UTS, it feels like the movie Bladerunner.

been to MQ a few times for skool things and also orientation days - it's pretty shite (sorry to the MQ ppl I've offended, but it is...) - people are nice anywhere you go so that shouldn't matter - UTS isn't bad at all, all your classes are pretty neatly held in one or another nearby building - the exterior is very deceptive because its pretty nice inside :uhhuh:
the parties at unsw are PACKED - they're good but TOO overcrowded.

Its not people being nice, its the atmosphere thats the difference, at MQ its absolutely laid back, we're a pretty small uni so people can easily meet others if they wanted to, and its got this rural town feel to it that the city unis don't really have.

You've also highlighted the exact same things that make MQ pretty awesome, its small and most of your classes aren't half an hours walk away, and there are plenty of deceptively looking buildings which look shit on the outside because of their 'heritage' status and are pretty well done on the inside.

To the opening post: UNSW has the roundhouse, so what, anyone can go to that, its not some sort of private uni thing, just means you gotta travel, same with manning bar, and up until recently it happened at MQ as well, I hear that there are bids to try and bring back live music but we used to have some big bands come play at our bar/atrium/conception day so I don't think that its that big a deal.

The one thing I hate about MQ is transport. Its in the middle of fucking nowhere.

I live a short bus trip from mq. So yeah, 15 mins im guessing...
oh, so atm there's no live music at mq?
yeah mq has a completely different vibe than the others i have seen (usyd, unsw, uts). I quite like it. But at times do you feel that it is a bit too mellow?

I hate you people who live close to Macquarie, especially those who don't have to go many hours/days, coz if it weren't for Macquarie uni, I probably would have never gone anywhere near Macquarie Park once in my lifetime.

No idea, but if I didn't do Actuarial, chances are that I'd be doing Commerce at Sydney.

Because they haven't established a Actuarial studies course there yet, and I'm guessing most students would want to go to a university for actuarial studies that is accreditted by the IAAust

if normal vaginal sex was a 1/10 and anal sex with cream and roleplay costumes a 10/10, I'd give Macquarie Uni a 9/10

Im loving uni to much, in which i havn't been doing the work. But meh, having the best time of my life, i can sacrifice a week in our mid-semester break to catch up.

I think they meant the suburb.

But so freaking true. I live down south and I never go up north. Like, bloody hell lol.

Hmmm MQ *does* seem a bit dead. I dunno.
