OK so what did everyone get up to? What was joined? Who was met? How's everyone feeling regarding next week?

Moi - I'm getting more and more nervous. I've been socialising with the feeling its "temporary" and its only just hitting me that I have to make friendships for the next five years...sorta. Scary! The law dean says something like "these are the best days of your life, and you're going to make the best friends for the rest of your days here...look around" very freaky....

Tho Manning is looking very cool :D And yay i had a 20min conversation with the guys from the chaser, they were soooo lovely and were sooo friendly and interesting :D. Would have spoken for longer if my friends hadn't become impatient! :mad1:

Yeah thats the only consolation...everyone's in the same boat. I've actually been walking up to random ppl and starting conversations because I know they're probs as lost as i am... :p

O-day today was good...I went to a faculty welcome, met new friends for lunch and *drumroll* joined the token library tour, but spent most of the time talking to a couple of guys i realised i had met on schoolies :D

Am rather indigent at the moment due to the multitude of clubs joined! filmsoc, commsoc, suls, cheerleading (for the dance tix i swear...i lack pep ;) ), basketball and i cant remember the rest...:p Also subscribed to the chaser and volunteered to write for honi soit! (they offered me free theatre tix for tonite but i couldn't make it :( )

I've had a pretty good O-Week. I had the essential library tour which was pretty boring but i i just made conversation with the people in my tour.

Went to the Business and Economics Faculty welcome though did not stay for the BBQ, but did meet heaps of new people who were doing my course and was also amazed by how much international students there are.

Joined Comsoc, Echo, and the Anime club. looked at the textbooks then decided to become a co-op member at the sight of the prices of textbooks!!! Umm yeah pretty full on experience and now nervously awaitong start of lectures.

Yeah, haven't been on these forums for a while, I've been too busy at college, so much so that I've hardly attended the uni o-week - except to join up for scisoc, the maths and physics club.

I've made a few friends from the science transition program, and also quite a few from college.

I didn't manage to attend the faculty welcomes due to numerous college commitments.

All I can say is that college life is crazy. The first four days were full on in terms of drinking, everyone was going to the grandstand and HQ pub every night, getting drunk, the fresher alley toilets got trashed. Quite a shock really but u get used to it. Things are starting to settle down now with lectures and that.

There were crazy immunity challenges we had to do like eat raw egg, drink goon, lie on the floor whenever o-week leaders blew the whistle

The average time everyone has gone to bed would have to be about 2-3am .

What do u mean by "hazings"?

Ahh ok, I see, yeah O-week was really fun, and I still managed to get enough sleep :D

The rituals have all finished now, although there's a rasta party on tonight at wesley college.

Oh...anyone see the engineering students on the "slip and slide" and lunchtime? Lol!!! :D

Yeah the rasta party was really good, something like 1200 people turned up, and they had a cool jamaican bicardi band playing.

I'm still managing to get some work done even with all these things going on

Yeah I've seen a few drews carrying bricks around and wearing an academic gown, supposedly if they lose it they have to carry an extra brick around with them.

For accounting do u have a lecturer who has a really girly voice? And do u have your lectures in bosch lecture theatre 4? Accounting is pretty boring since I did most of what we're current doing (ie balance sheets etc) in bus. studies in high school.

oooh so that's what those people are doing. it's some kind of initiation thing? what happens if they drop the extra brick? and does someone stealing the brick from them count as them dropping it? and is this a requirement for staying at the college? they're paying to stay there aren't they? couldn't they just say no? and shouldn't I ask someone who's actually staying at the college rather than you people?

If they drop the extra brick they just pick it back up. Yeah if someone steals the brick from them they essentially "lose it" so say if they started the day with 1 brick then lost it or had it stolen, the next day they would have to carry around two bricks. I've got a friend who goes to st. andrews college so I know.

Yeah, they are paying to go there, but it's all part of the fun of college life I guess. If they don't carry around the bricks they usually have consequences such as having to drink goon or something like that.

The drew girl i was speaking to said that if they lost the brick they have to sing on their knees in front of everyone.

She also said that you don't *have* to participate. There are ppl who see it purely as room and board and aren't involved...but then where's the fun??? You need to get involved and make friends...they're like ur new family! :D

ultimate: Yeah I have martin for accounting. I didn't do business studies, so i'm finding it all pretty "interesting" still  Every single one of my lectures is in merewether lecture theatre 1. yeahhh I'm rather attached to the place now :p ;)
