hi!
i do french cont and ext, and so far in my life ive never really revised for french bc i felt like everything we did throughout the year was enough?? like i never rlly knew what to do lol so i didn't really bother, especially since i have 13 units so i could have all 3 units of french completely not count.
i always make sure to watch yt or a tv series in french, and my phone is in french so a lot of the tiktoks and reels i get are in french, and this passive revision kinda feels like enough?
when i asked for advice, my classmates mainly told me they revise grammar by doing flashcards on tenses or conjugations for example, but i dont feel the need to do this since the grammar comes pretty naturally to me (i already speak hungarian which is pretty notorious for having a LOT of conjugations and also quite different grammar to english so i guess the concepts make more sense to me than to others?)
anyway, now though i feel like i need to lock in a bit more bc i didnt do as well as i wanted in french cont on my half-yearlys/mid-terms whatever you wanna call them so im jst wondering how you guys revise for language exams outside of i guess the more obvious stuff???
my weak points are probably vocab and listening sections, but ive always felt like you cant really do last minute revision for that and my passive revision of reels and shit has lowk always worked so??
also, french ext is new to me and i feel like im def gonna have to revise somehow differently but idk how bc ive only had one assessment so far and the three of us in the class all either lost 1 or 2 marks in the entire thing so it was kind of a confidence boost, but i know in the hsc it's gonna be worse
anyway, sorry for the yap, but yea, any advice would be much appreciated 😍

You haven't mentioned reading and writing but sometimes I just force myself to sit down and write stuff. I do Chinese though, which requires you to learn all the characters so reading/writing is quite significantly harder than listening/speaking. I'm not sure whether that would be as beneficial for French. I also practice using HSC past papers to see if I can do everything under timed conditions. The listening section tends to be a mad dash so practice helps. This is probs the same as your "passive revision" but I also watch longer videos (news, shows, etc) with subtitles on to improve reading - this is also because it's hard to look up unknown characters in a dictionary though. Normal reading might be more efficient for French

omg ive heard about chinese dictionaries, idk how you manage that i would HATE having to think about how to even search up a specific word 😭
i didnt talk about reading and writing bc i feel pretty confident with it, i already know my mistakes which is usually just being "too ambitious" with my writing lol, my teacher always says i need to stop trying to write complicated stuff and focus more on accuracy which i guess is fair, i just get carried away
hsc past papers is probably the shout, im not sure how or why i forgot about that lmaooo, i could def use the practice for listening
i also recently got a couple books in french to practice normal reading
THANK YOU and good luck for chinese!!

Thanks, sounds like you're pretty set! I can also be pretty ambitious with writing, so I think timed tasks are defo the way to go. Also, 13 units is crazy - I've got no idea how you manage. Good luck for French :shouting:

Also, from your post in the other thread, you can show your subjects using the Signature function if you click on your profile icon at the top. I think you can only use it after sending 10 or 15 messages though.

i accelerated 3u maths haha so im only actually doing 11 units bc ext2 maths counts as 2 or however the hell it works
also, french is lowk my extra little fun subject so i do NOT treat it the same way i do my other subjects (lowk a bit of a problem) but that means it's pretty chill, im essentially only doing 8 units worth of actual work

okay cool thanks, i guess i need to get my messages up lmao since i cant see that option in my account settings :oldmad2:
