i'm doing performance for the hsc,,, and i can't decide on my pieces to save my LIFE. i have too many choices. how do i narrow it down. i need to start refining

I'd recommend variety, and ensure you're demonstrating technical ability, musicality, as well as the ability to work/communicate with accompaniment (although the last one may be a bigger deal with music 2, I can't be sure)

i listen to a lot of folk/indie pop so that's probs reflected in my choices
i have
-freckles by thelma plum
-a missy higgins song (probs 100 round the bends or the sound of white)
-beaches by beabadoobee
-the winner takes it all (from mamma mia the movie/musical)
-let it be by the beatles
-i/me/myself by will woods (probs not)
-vampire empire by big theif
-funeral by phoebe bridgers
-coffee by chappell roan
-dear arkansas daughter by lady lamb
-when it rains it pours or the brown snake by thelma plum
-spring into summer by lizzy mcalpine
-icu by phoebe bridgers

I'll listen to them at some point haha (I only know two of them uh oh)

The winner takes it all has good vocal range from memory, and you could do a lot in terms of performance style (that goes for any musical theatre song really)
I would recommend doing 2-3 from these genres, but maybe having one that's like slightly different (if you're comfortable of course) in order to demonstrate some sort of technical variety
You can always edit the songs a little to fit your voice
Ultimately, as long as you have decent variety, and you perform, (no matter how dramatic you think you're being it's probably perfect), you'll do super well!!

Does your school have the facilities/people for live accompaniment, or will you use a backing track? I know people at my school have piano accompaniment with like one duet or like one accompanied by other instruments

I really like these songs

I think u should choose some songs with different genres/ vibes and maybe some songs that are fast and some slow. The Sound of White might be a good choice for like a more lyrical sort of song and it might have like different vocal techniques that are good to show off but like I'm not singer so idk. I play piano btw. Maybe u can add a musical theatre one as a different genre like The winner takes it all but it kinda has a similar vibe to the sound of white so maybe choose between those 2 (maybe The winner takes it all is better). Then maybe u can do a more indie on like beaches or smth else. Then maybe u can do like a jazz/blues sort of song if u want cause that will give u some variety and maybe like a upbeat pop song like Dear Arkansas Daughter
